    FAQS

    1. What is a shipweek?

    A shipweek is a 7-day fandom event devoted to creating content (art, fiction, edits, and others) about a pairing.

    In this instance, Hangster Week is a 7-day creation event for Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw & Jake "Hangman" Seresin from Top Gun: Maverick.

    2. Who can participate?

    Anyone and everyone! We have simple rules regarding NSFW work, but SFW creation is open to all.

    3. How does it work?

    A list of creative prompts (e.g. Mafia AU/Intimacy/Spring) will be released from our accounts on Twitter and Tumblr in April.

    There will be 3 prompts per day. Creators can pick however many prompts from that day they wish to incorporate into their work.

    Creators do not have to complete all 7 days of creation to participate. You may wish to only do one day of the seven, or a couple.

    Publishing of work can only be done during the week itself and not anytime before. Creators will publish their work and tag our social media accounts (@HangsterWeek) and the current event tags (#HangsterWeek #VFA-87_2023) for their work to be acknowledged and spread.

    4. How do I publish?

    You can publish your work anywhere, but you must:

    (1) tag us on one of our social media platforms,

    (2) use our event tags #HangsterWeek and #VFA87_2023,

    (3) and indicate which day/prompt your work is inspired by.

    For fiction writers, you may also wish to upload your work onto Archive of Our Own and add it to the official #HangsterWeek collection.

    5. What does the VFA-87/VFA-151 mean?

    Short answer: there are two Hangster Weeks in a year as it is a biannual event. The different VFA numbers are to signify which Hangster Week is currently going on/next.

    VFA-151 runs from the 15th of January till the 22nd of January.
    VFA-87 runs from the 7th of August till the 14th of August.

    We got them from Hangman (VFA-151, Vigilantes) and Rooster's (VFA-87, Golden Warriors) designations. The same goes with the event's icon. It's a combination of their two squadron patches.

    6. What are the rules regarding NSFW work?

    Any creator may upload NSFW work for #HangsterWeek, however; creators must be 18+ years of age and indicating so on their profile or the Hangster Week account and all of its reiterations will not acknowledge this work.

    Guidelines

    Please adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a respectful and safe creative period this summer 2023.

    Rules

    1. Always use trigger warnings when applicable.

    This includes in your tweet and Ao3 work. (E.g. TW Death / TW Cheating / TW blood)

    2. Dead dove/dark themes will only be accepted under #NSFWHangsterWeek tag.

    If your dead dove work is not tagged with the NSFW tag, it will not be retweeted by any accounts under Hangster Week.

    3. Plagiarism of any form is prohibited.

    Any works identified as plagiarism (including but not limited to: tracing, copying, reposting of another creator's content) will be reported and not acknowledged by any accounts under Hangster Week.

    4. NSFW work may only be posted by creators aged 18 and above (indicated in bio).

    Any work that does not follow this rule will not be acknowledged by the Hangster Week account and any of its reiterations.

    Posting Guidelines

    1. Hangster Week will run from the 7th of August to 13th of August. Late entries will be acknowledged and retweeted until the 31st of August.

    2. For all submissions, use the appropriate (SFW/NSFW event tag and the designation (VFA-87).

    3. Entries should also incude the day, the prompt used, and
    any trigger warnings.     Feel free to DM us for guidance.

    4. All mediums are accepted as entries. This includes fan fiction edits, fan art, socmeds, headcanon, threads! Please add Ao3 fics to our official collection (link in bio). No min/max word count!

    5. Each day has three prompts, you do not have to use all three. Feel free to mix and match them and interpret them as freely as you want!
